Our Team

Traci N. Stephens is a native of Jacksonville, North Carolina. She moved to Martin County in April of 2013 with her husband Larry and children; Noah, Logan, and Abram. She graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College, located in Jacksonville, NC in 2001 with a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. Traci has 12 years’ experience in public and private health care. She likes spending time with her family and serving at her local church.

Steven Manning, MD grew up in Williamston, NC. He learned the value of hard work early on in life while working alongside his father in the construction business as a teenager. Dr. Manning is a 1998 graduate of Williamston High School. He decided his freshman year of college that he wanted to pursue a career in medicine and nothing could sway him from reaching that goal. He graduated from East Carolina University in 2002 with his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology. In August of 2002 Dr. Manning married his high school sweetheart, Candi Griffin Manning, who is also a Martin County native. He went on to attend medical school at the Brody School of Medicine at ECU where he graduated in 2008 followed by a family medicine residency also at the Brody School of Medicine and Pitt County Memorial Hospital (now Vidant Medical Center) where he served as Junior Chief resident and Chief resident and graduated in 2011. Dr. Manning made the choice to return home to practice medicine, where he could care for the community he loved and build his family. Dr. Manning is a devoted father of 3 children, a loving husband to his wife, and above all desires to serve The Lord Jesus in all he does. He chose to be a family medicine physician because caring for the whole family is his passion.

 

Our newest memberLisa Wharton PA-C grew up in Kernersville, NC. She graduated from the University of Surrey Roehampton in London, England with a Bachelors in Biological Sciences. After returning to the US, she realized her passion in life was medicine and improving lives, especially in underserved areas. She came to Eastern NC in 2010, where she attended East Carolina University and graduated as a Physician Assistant in 2012. She has worked in emergency medicine and internal medicine, but has returned to her original passion of family medicine. She and her husband Michael have a daughter and enjoy calling Eastern NC home. 

 

Spencer H. Bell is working at AccessMedicine through the highly selective MedServe Fellowship Program. He grew up in Rocky Mount, NC and graduated from Rocky Mount High School in 2010. He is an avid sports fan and played baseball and football while in high school. Spencer attended NC State University and was a magna cum laude graduate in 2014 with a degree in Human Biology. He has had various part-time positions in the healthcare field since graduating from college. Through one of these positions, Spencer became a Certified Pharmacy Technician in 2015. Spencer plans on becoming a physician and is very interested in primary care, especially the direct primary care model.
